Free Pattern! Net Stitch Pentagon

A long time ago, Practical Crocheter played around with making crocheted pentagonal shawls in net stitch. It's a fun concept and very wearable. One of her smaller pentagons my kids have been using for playing dress-up, and it finally started to fall apart. My 6yo, who had been using it as a superhero cape asked me to make a replacement, and that's what you see pictured below. I used one 100 gram skein of worsted weight acrylic and a size H (5 mm) hook.

The following pattern can be made in any size, any yarn, and any gauge and has many possible uses.  It can be a shawl (or superhero cape), a light weight throw, the basis for a net bag, or you could make two to join together to use as a beach coverup. Whatever your plan, the concept is fast and easy. Enjoy!
